Day 2

Today, I started building Polya’s problem solving methodology by applying a strategy from SVMI called Three Reads with Understanding the Problem.  I only wanted to introduce the topic.  Over the next few days, I will be introducing the other elements of the methodology and using them to solve a problem of the month.  The second part of the lesson was to go through three questions shared by Fawn Nguyen on twitter a couple of weeks ago.

I introduced the questions one at a time with students getting the next question after the previous was completed.  Engagement was close to 100% all day.  These are truly fantastic questions.  Next time, I think I would break them into chunks and talk about each one after students struggled for an appropriate amount of time.  Each question has imbedded many opportunities for diagnostic evaluation.  A class discussion will uncover even more.
