Just finished a great first day of Geometry. I used the exercise “Walking in the Rain” with a math talk in the beginning. After teaching only Algebra for the past number of years, I did not realize the strength of students that made it to Geometry. The major change I would make to the lesson is to add more to the lesson. The lesson was decent for a 45 minute period for regular students, but well short for honors. Students really enjoyed working together and the task naturally fosters explanation.
